With over 30 years of design experience, James D'Auria has earned a reputation as a master at interpreting the personalities of his clients into their retail, showroom, residential and corporate facilities. Many of those clients are internationally acclaimed fashion designers and retailers, as well as corporate executives and real estate developers.
Mr. D'Auria's residential work, which began with projects for his corporate clients, has grown along with his firm and includes the design of New York City co-ops and country homes on Long Island and in New Jersey, Virginia and Florida. Himself an accomplished cook, D'Auria often designs houses that center around the workings of the kitchen and are always responsive to the client's own living patterns.
James D'Auria received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in 1968, which included one year of study in Italy at the University of Florence. He has returned to Italy frequently, nurturing his appreciation for Italian food and design, and speaks fluent Italian. In 1974 he established his own firm. In addition to architecture and interior design, Mr. D'Auria often designs custom furniture and lighting fixtures for his projects. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Illuminating Engineering Society and teaches interior design at the Parsons School of Design.
